Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2012, $69,563)

The State Justice Statistics (SJS) Program is designed to maintain and enhance each state's capacity to address criminal justice issues through collection and analysis of data. The SJS Program provides support to each state to coordinate and conduct statistical activities within the state, conduct research to estimate impacts of legislative and policy changes, and serve as a liaison in assisting BJS to gather data from respondent agencies within their states.

The Connecticut Statistical Analysis Center (CT SAC) will carry out the following activities: (1) continue to collect and submit data to BJS on arrest-related deaths pursuant to the Death in Custody Reporting Act of 2000 (P.L. 106-297); (2) continue to analyze and produce an annual report on correctional population forecasting; (3) continue to a produce monthly correctional indicators report to monitor trends in admissions and releases from the correctional population to assess and evaluate the implications as they affect the statewide policy to reduce prison and jail overcrowding; and (4) facilitate ongoing meetings of the Connecticut Criminal Justice Advisory Commission.
