The State Justice Statistics (SJS) Program is designed to maintain and enhance each state's capacity to address criminal justice issues through collection and analysis of data. The SJS Program provides support to each state to coordinate and conduct statistical activities within the state, conduct research to estimate impacts of legislative and policy changes, and serve as a liaison in assisting BJS to gather data from respondent agencies within their states.
The North Carolina Statistical Analysis Center will conduct the following activities: 1) conduct research to examine the nature and extent of human trafficking in the state by way of surveying law enforcement agencies to understand their perceptions and ability to confront the current problem; 2) conduct a study on the characteristics and prevalence of veterans arrested and booked in local jails; and 3) continue to develop and maintain statistical and research content on the SAC website.
