Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $1,996,055)
The Indiana Office of Court Technology will use funds to develop a new protection order registry in INcite. The registry is used by more than 30,000 stakeholders including judges, court clerks, law enforcement, victim advocates and survivors of domestic violence. Although the current registry interfaces with the Indiana Data and Communications System at the Indiana State Police, and in turn, NCIC and NICS, the information sent to IDACS from the registry could be more accurate and complete. The current registry is developed with outdated technology and is difficult to modify or enhance. The new registry will be developed with newer technologies and will incorporate the necessary enhancements that would result in improvements to the quality, accuracy and completeness of the records sent from the courts to IDACS. One of the primary improvements to the records in IDACS will be to remove a no-contact order at the time the criminal case is disposed – whether by a dismissal or a sentencing order.
