A comprehensive approach to achieve high rates of survey completion from 1,600 participating institutions across the 12-month period of performance.

Under this award, the recipient of funds will administer BJS's 2010 Survey of Campus Law Enforcement Agencies. The 2010 survey is the third in series with previous collections conducted in-house by BJS in 1995 and 2004-05.

It is a comprehensive survey of law enforcement agencies serving both public and private campuses and includes those employing sworn personnel with general arrest powers and those using only nonsworn security personnel.

The data collection will provides a profile of the law enforcement agencies on campuses serving 4-year and 2-year campuses. Data are collected on agency functions, personnel, expenditures, salaries, equipment, computers and information systems, and written policies and procedures. The resulting data file serves as a valuable tool for assessing the local law enforcement resources and services provided at universities and colleges.
