Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2013, $78,159)
The State Justice Statistics (SJS) Program is designed to maintain and enhance each state's capacity to address criminal justice issues through collection and analysis of data. The SJS Program provides support to each state to coordinate and conduct statistical activities within the state, conduct research to estimate impacts of legislative and policy changes, and serve as a liaison in assisting BJS to gather data from respondent agencies within their states.
The Illinois Statistical Analysis Center (SAC) will use funds to build on the work funded under the 2011 and 2012 SJS projects to develop a dataset of 20 years of Illinois arrest statistics based on the aggregation of criminal history records from 1993 through 2013, and to build a web-based tool to allow users to choose various geographic categories and arrestee characteristics to produce tabular and graphic output. The SAC will also continue to compile reports from local police agencies on arrest related deaths and submit data to the Bureau of Justice Statistics. (ca/ncf)
