Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $20,381)

The Tribal Criminal History Record Improvement (T-CHRIP) Program provides support to Federally-recognized tribes and State criminal records repositories to promote participation in and improve data sharing between tribal, State, and national criminal records systems.

Under this award, the Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes will carry out the following activities:

1) Enhance the tribes' law enforcement capabilities by augmenting the current Livescan system with the addition of a device at the correctional facility;

2) Provide additional training for staff at the correctional facility on fingerprinting techniques and data transmittal; and

3) Acquire technical assistance to support system integration with the State. The Law and Justice Department will transmit fingerprint data to the State which, in turn, will relay qualifying records to the FBI.
