The State Justice Statistics (SJS) Program is designed to maintain and enhance each State's capacity to address criminal justice issues through collection and analysis of data. The SJS Program provides support to each State to coordinate and conduct statistical activities within the State, conduct research to estimate impacts of legislative and policy changes, and serve as a liaison in assisting BJS to gather data from respondent agencies within their States.
The New York Statistical Analysis Center will use funds to carry out the following projects: (1) obtain statewide data occurring in the process of arrest or in pursuit of arrest pursuant to the Deaths in Custody Reporting Act of 2000 (Pub. L. 106-297); (2) develop a tracking instrument for every offender referred to the County Re-entry Task Force program and produce a report profiling offenders participating in the program; (3) compile a comprehensive catalog of crime report formats currently used in participating incident-based reporting (IBR) agencies and develop a set of business rules for use in developing automated crime reporting programs; and, (4) conduct an evaluation of the prisoner re-entry initiative program project at the Queensboro Correctional Facility.
