Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2007, $50,100)

The State Justice Statistics (SJS) Program is designed to maintain and enhance each State's capacity to address criminal justice issues through collection and analysis of data. The SJS Program provides support to each State to coordinate and conduct statistical activities within the State, conduct research to estimate impacts of legislative and policy changes, and serve as a liaison in assisting BJS to gather data from respondent agencies within their States.

The Ohio Statistical Analysis Center (OH SAC), placed within the Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services (OCJS), a division of the Ohio Department of Public Safety, will use these funds to: (1) increase and enhance web access to criminal justice data; (2) continue to provide reports relying on Ohio's incident-based reporting system; (3) conduct research examining the extent of human trafficking in two cities; (4) increase availability of criminal justice data; (5) continue development of a Homeland security survey; and (6) continue to assist an evaluation of an in-jail treatment program for women.
