FY 2023 NCHIP

The Nevada Department of Public Safety (NV DPS) will use funds to participate in the CCH metrics working group and to work with SEARCH Group, Inc. to establish criminal history data quality improvement strategies that will enable Nevada to assess and monitor the data quality of criminal history records by creating a prototype CCH Data Quality (DQ) Dashboard. Phase 1 of this project is designed to support the development, testing, and deployment of a CCH DQ Dashboard that will enable the Records Bureau to generate detailed data quality metrics and monitor mission-critical criminal history operations, data reporting, and workflow processing. The project includes mapping and curating Nevada CCH data to support analysis through the DQ Dashboard, including the following analytic domains: Missing Dispositions, Open Arrests & Data Anomalies. This request also includes funding or the cost of the Departments IT Service Vendor to design, develop, and implement a continuous data extract to support the SEARCH CCH Data Quality (DQ) Dashboard. Funds are also requested to support permanent staff to continue to work overtime to analyze the FBI correlation file against the state criminal history information. Due to the limitations of daily workloads of current permanent staff and the complexity of record errors of the correlation, the NV DPS Records Bureau believes that this should only be handled by experienced permanent staff rather than hiring temporary staff to address.  Additionally, NV DPS requests funds to support an additional Records Bureau employee to attend Compact Council, SEARCH, Advisory Policy Board (APB) Western Working Group, NV Sheriffs and Chiefs and the Western Identification Network (WIN) membership meetings. Attendance at these meetings would allow for partnerships in facilitating the sharing of complete, accurate, and timely criminal history record information to enhance public safety.
