FY 2022 NICS Act Record Improvement Program

The Quinault Indian Nation will continue to utilize a system to keep track of necessary data all throughout this process. The previous NARIP grant funding enabled the tribe to hire two new employees: a NARIP program manager, and a NARIP records specialist, to divide and conquer the process of the NICS program. This funding will be used to; 1) Improve the completeness, automation, and transmittal of records to state and federal systems used by NICS. 2) Form NICS Record Improvement Advisory Council, and develop regular oversight mechanisms. 3) Create parallel systems for the prosecutors and police department, and develop a plan for entry of historical orders and dispositions. 4) Evaluate, process, and provide a report of project success, lessons learned, and next steps.
