Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2021, $437,026)

Under this award, the Colorado Division of Criminal Justice plans to provide subgrants to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Colorado Integrated Criminal Justice Information System (CICJIS). Funds will be used by CBI to improve the disposition match rate for misdemeanor and felony records by researching and updating records in the State’s Criminal History Record Information System and the FBI’s national databases, as well as updating and correcting criminal history records in the Colorado Crime Information Center and the National Crime Information Center which are missing arrest data. When CBI was audited by the FBI in 2014, it was discovered that the FBI had in their possession over 500,000 fingerprint cards which were never received at CBI. This project will address the approximately 200,000 criminal history records in the CCIC which are incomplete and missing arrest data. CICJIS is also requesting funds to find a solution to match disposition and arrest records from unmatched court charges that CBI receives electronically. Program management and support will also be covered with funds from the NCHIP 2021 program.
