Title: State Justice Statistics Program of Statistical Analysis Centers, 2021: Core Capacity Project (CT SAC)
The Connecticut Office of Policy & Management (OPM) Criminal Justice Policy and Planning Division (CJPPD) Research Unit, which is the designated Statistical Analysis Center (SAC) for the state of Connecticut (CTSAC), will use FY21 SJS funds to support a cross-branch data exchange and dashboard development. Project activities will be centered on supporting the exchange of aggregate data in collaboration with the Judicial Branch Court Support Services Division (CSSD) and the development and public release of the data dashboard tool for juvenile justice. The project activities will identify technical needs and establish cross-branch capacities for the data exchange. In addition, CTSAC will guide the buildout of the capacity through supporting the development of a data dashboard tool for the juvenile justice system. The dashboard will provide aggregate, descriptive statistics that enable policymakers and public users access to juvenile justice system trends organized by sociodemographic groupings. Dynamic exchange of aggregate data and dashboard hosting support will be a pilot implementation in service of the project’s ultimate goal, to stand up a long-term capacity for the Judicial Branch and the CTSAC to share justice system data and further support analyses desired by policymakers. The FY21 SJS project will be the first year of a 3-Year plan that involves a four-step process: 1) dashboard data assessment and needs identification which conducts a data quality assessment of the completeness and quality of the aggregated data supporting the dashboard and technical needs identification for future dashboard enhancements; 2) technical enhancements to support dynamic data exchange and the development of the OPM dashboard; 3) dashboard development and public release; and 4)implementation review and expansion of exchange capabilities.
