The first section profiles State criminal justice systems. It presents data on State expenditures and employment, criminal history record systems, law enforcement employment and training, reported crime and arrests, prosecution and defense, victim services, court structure, sentencing guidelines, correctional facilities and populations, capital punishment, and State laws regarding mandatory minimum sentences and drug testing. The second section explains the general functions of the State Statistical Analysis Centers in 1991 and their functions in the efforts to address drug abuse. The final section provides a State-by-State directory of criminal justice issues, research, and data production by Statistical Analysis Centers. Appended list of directors and addresses of State Statistical Analysis Centers and description of the Justice Research and Statistics Association.
