In addition to presenting the codebook and variables description list for the 1983 offender-based transaction statistics (OBTS) for eight States and the Virgin Islands, this report describes OBTS historical development, data collection, research methodology, the file structure, codebook information, and information processing.
Abstract
OBTS reported to State repositories cover offender characteristics, arrest actions, prosecution activities, court action, and case disposition. The data set contains reported felony cases which reached disposition during calendar year 1983. The appendix contains offense codes, arresting agency codes, and a glossary of variables. Frequency tables are provided.
