Description
The Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of Justice Programs (OJP) Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) seeks a vendor to support research and testing activities related to development of a new data collection that will measure access to justice for civil legal needs. As the Department's principal federal statistical agency, BJS is responsible for the collection, analysis, publication, and dissemination of statistics on crime, criminal offenders, victims of crime, and the operations of criminal justice systems at all levels of government. This project furthers the Department's mission by establishing support to collect data from households on access to justice for civil legal needs. The primary focus of the FY2023 Access to Justice Design and Testing Program (AJDTP) will be to conduct research and testing that will inform efforts to develop a new data collection. Specifically, this research will examine what data elements to collect and explore methods of collection, with an aim of developing a strategy for national reporting. This will include an evaluation of strategies to collect both household level data, as well as data from courts or other relevant sources.
