Description
The award recipient will administer the Federal Justice Statistics Program (FJSP) with tasks to collect, standardize, link, analyze, and disseminate comprehensive federal justice transaction statistics and documentation. The FJSP provides comprehensive and detailed information about the federal justice system's processing of criminal cases including arrests, prosecution decisions, referrals to magistrates, court dispositions, sentencing outcomes, sentence length, and time served. Tasks under this award will include: 1) Receiving FY 2021 to FY 2023 datasets from seven federal agencies (U.S. Marshals Service, Drug Enforcement Administration, Executive Office of U.S. Attorneys, Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, U.S. Sentencing Commission, the Federal Bureau of Prisons, and Executive Office for Immigration Review); 2) Converting data into a standardized format using SAS statistical software code; 3) Ensuring data quality and confidentiality standards; 4) Updating the dyad link files to include all available data; 5) Updating and expanding the BJS federal online query tool; and, 6) Providing technical assistance to BJS and others who use FJSP data. This includes preparation of public use data files and codebooks to the National Archive of Criminal Justice Data (NACJD).
