Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2017, $1,147,592)
The National Census of Victim Service Providers (NCVSP) and the National Survey of Victim Service Providers (NSVSP) are two surveys within BJSs Victim Services Research Program. This program of research aims to provide policymakers and the research community comprehensive information about what services are being provided to victims, who is being served, and what gaps in service delivery may exist. The census (NCVSP) is currently underway and will produce a frame of victim service providers. Under this award, Westat will design and conduct the follow-up, more detailed 2018 NSVSP with a representative sample of victim service providers. The NSVSP will provide detailed data on the organization, function, resources, and organizational constraints of the broad range of entities providing services to victims of crime and abuse. Specific tasks will include: (1) organizing and convening an expert panel; (2) revising and finalizing the NSVSP instrument, which might involve cognitive testing; (3) assisting BJS in developing viable sampling strategies; (4) develop and implement plans for weighting, imputation, and nonresponse bias analysis; (5) cleaning and preparing the NSVSP data for analysis; (6) developing a public use data file and codebook containing necessary documentation and variable information; (7) producing a supplementary document that builds upon the potential of the NSVSP data to be integrated with existing national data on crime and victimization.
