Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2016, $52,768)
The State Justice Statistics (SJS) Program is designed to maintain and enhance each state's capacity to address criminal justice issues through collection and analysis of data. The SJS Program provides support to each state to coordinate and conduct statistical activities within the state, conduct research to estimate impacts of legislative and policy changes, and serve as a liaison in assisting BJS to gather data from respondent agencies within their states.
The North Dakota SAC functions as part of the Information Services Section of the ND Bureau of Criminal Investigation within the ND Office of Attorney General. Under this award, the ND SAC is requesting funds to develop a website, Theme Oriented Public Site (TOPS). The proposed website, TOPS, will allow a public site where users could view North Dakotas statistical data through the use of easy-to-read charts and tables. In addition, the user would be able to view that data by theme which would permit users to access data from a set demographic, location, or type of incident. The development of the website will be in collaboration with Beyond 20/20, sole source provider, which will create easy to understand reports, graphics, tables and charts for the public and allow state and local governments to use the data provided for analysis, planning and evaluation. The information provided will originate from the NIBRS statistical data. (CA/NCF)
