The State Justice Statistics (SJS) Program is designed to maintain and enhance each state's capacity to address criminal justice issues through collection and analysis of data. The SJS Program provides support to each state to coordinate and conduct statistical activities within the state, conduct research to estimate impacts of legislative and policy changes, and serve as a liaison in assisting BJS to gather data from respondent agencies within their states.

The Alabama Statistical Analysis Center (SAC) is housed in the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Division within the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center (ACJIC). With this award, the Alabama SAC will conduct research on the nature and extent of family violence and stalking in the state of Alabama by reviewing data from the UCR program. In addition, the SAC will continue to produce the following annual statistical publications that have proven useful to law enforcement officials, policymakers, academicians and the media: Crime in Alabama 2010, Domestic Violence in Alabama 2010, Juvenile Victims of Violent Crime in Alabama 2010, and Drug Arrests in Alabama 2010.
