The State Justice Statistics (SJS) Program is designed to maintain and enhance each state's capacity to address criminal justice issues through collection and analysis of data. The SJS Program provides support to each state to coordinate and conduct statistical activities within the state, conduct research to estimate impacts of legislative and policy changes, and serve as a liaison in assisting BJS to gather data from respondent agencies within their states.
Under the State Justice Statistics Program, the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI) plans to conduct a statewide victimization survey to help Indiana residents understand crime in their community and provide accurate, comprehensive crime data to local policymakers to assist in making policy decisions. Results from the survey will be summarized and published on ICJI's website, as well as, placed in a database and published in a final report to be used by policymakers, practitioners, and researchers in the state. Funds will also be used toward the SAC Director's travel expenses to the BJS/JRSA annual research and statistics conference in Portland, Maine. CA/NCF
