Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $50,000)
The State Justice Statistics (SJS) Program is designed to maintain and enhance each state's capacity to address criminal justice issues through collection and analysis of data. The SJS Program provides support to each state to coordinate and conduct statistical activities within the state, conduct research to estimate impacts of legislative and policy changes, and serve as a liaison in assisting BJS to gather data from respondent agencies within their states.
Under the State Justice Statistics Program, the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI) plans to develop and implement an electronic performance measurement system for local agencies to submit, store, analyze, and review data from each agency's progress and financial reports. The new system will improve the timeliness and accuracy of data gathered and provide an easy-to-use, web-enabled application that will increase the accuracy of data reporting and eliminate redundancy. Data reports generated from the system will prove useful in guiding funding decisions, aid in determining agency program priorities, and serve as an important part of program assessment and planning.
