Minnesota Statistical Analysis Center

The State Justice Statistics (SJS) Program is designed to maintain and enhance each state's capacity to address criminal justice issues through collection and analysis of data. The SJS Program provides support to each state to coordinate and conduct statistical activities within the state, conduct research to estimate impacts of legislative and policy changes, and serve as a liaison in assisting BJS to gather data from respondent agencies within their states.

The Minnesota Statistical Analysis Center (SAC) housed in the Office of Justice Programs within the MN Department of Public Safety will be conducting the following projects: 1) increase web access to data by creating an interactive web-based criminal justice portal that will allow stakeholders to access criminal justice data on a statewide and county level. Data would include UCR arrest and conviction data, victimization data, corrections and probation data, and also information on victim services; 2) produce a report on the over-representation of minority youth in the juvenile justice system and thereby raise awareness of the issue; 3) continue to produce with the Department of Education, a series of juvenile fact sheets entitled, 'Snapshots on Minnesota Youth' to inform statewide policy makers on the status of youth in Minnesota; and 4) review outcomes of a pilot evaluation done on programs funded by the MN Office of Justice Programs to ensure continued use of programs based on best practices and proven outcomes.
