Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $65,000)
The State Justice Statistics (SJS) Program is designed to maintain and enhance each state's capacity to address criminal justice issues through collection and analysis of data. The SJS Program provides support to each state to coordinate and conduct statistical activities within the state, conduct research to estimate impacts of legislative and policy changes, and serve as a liaison in assisting BJS to gather data from respondent agencies within their states.
Under this award the Connecticut SAC will: 1) obtain statewide data occurring in the process of arrest or in pursuit of arrest pursuant to the Death in Custody Reporting Act of 2000 (Pub. L. 106-297); 2) provide analysis of the state's criminal history records for the annual recidivism report and correctional population long range forecast report for policy and planning purposes; and 3) collect, analyze and publish other ad hoc and ancillary statistical analyses and presentations on the Connecticut criminal justice system.
