Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $48,620)
The State Justice Statistics (SJS) Program is designed to maintain and enhance each state's capacity to address criminal justice issues through collection and analysis of data. The SJS Program provides support to each state to coordinate and conduct statistical activities within the state, conduct research to estimate impacts of legislative and policy changes, and serve as a liaison in assisting BJS to gather data from respondent agencies within their states.
Under this award, the Idaho Statistical Analysis Center (ISAC) plans to complete several activities: (1) produce reports on state drug trends and violence between intimate partners utilizing NIBRS data; (2) collaborate with Idaho's Substance Abuse Epidemiological Outcomes Workgroup (SEOW) to examine the impact of substance abuse on state and local criminal justice and public health systems; and, (3) provide technical assistance and evaluation support to other criminal justice agencies conducting research projects.
Funds will also be used for travel expenses to the annual BJS/JRSA conference.
