Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2022, $899,960)

The Attorney General of Wyoming will use FY22 NCHIP funds to support and enhance the State's criminal history record repository. Updates are needed to be made to the Wyoming Criminal History Record Information System (WyCHRIS), which is over 12 years old. WyCHRIS manages Wyoming's criminal history records between key Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) units such as CCH, Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and Concealed Firearms Permit (CFP). WyCHRIS current technology has been revised many times over the years but it still uses dated technology. Updates are needed to improve its capabilities and features. Additionally, there are several law enforcement agencies across Wyoming who are currently utilizing outdated Livescans. These machines have reached their end of life and are no longer serviceable or able to be updated. NCHIP funds will also be used to purchase five new Livescan machines, along with printers and sheet trays. The projects will increase efficiency, improve information sharing and completeness of criminal history record information and tracking capabilities across the State. It also ensures that the most accurate information from Wyoming is being reported correctly to all required databases on a national level.
