Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2022, $224,842)
The New Jersey SAC is administered through the Office of Justice Data in the Office of the Attorney General (“OJD” hereafter), and accordingly is the entity charged by the Attorney General with implementing Chapter 120. The New Jersey SAC will use FY22 SJS funds to create the initial infrastructure and recurring data processing required to unify the currently available data fields enumerated in Chapter 120 into a centralized Criminal Justice Data Warehouse containing case level data on arrestees and their trajectories through the New Jersey criminal justice system. The project will support OJD in its function as the state SAC by providing readily available, easily queried data for a wide range of policy evaluation applications and responses to data requests. The mandate of Chapter 120 connects clearly with the purpose of the SJS Program, which provides support to each state to coordinate and conduct statistical activities within the state, conduct research to estimate impacts of legislative and policy changes, and serve as a liaison in assisting the BJS to gather data from respondent agencies within their states.
