The Office of Justice Programs' (OJP) mission is to increase public safety and improve the fair administration of justice across America through innovative leadership and programs, and its Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) is DOJ's primary statistical agency.
This position, Program Analyst (Policy Analyst), is located in the Statistical Policy and Standards Unit. The incumbent designs, analyzes, and advises on policies, practices, and written artifacts dealing with core BJS programs. Job duties include—
- evaluating existing BJS policies and procedures for alignment with stated goals and objectives. Researching applicable OMB guidance and other statistical agencies' policies and processes to help develop recommendations.
- developing agency-wide statistical policies based on existing laws, policy, and best practices. Serving on BJS, OJP, and other federal and technical working groups related to statistical policy.
- implementing and maintaining a tracking system for all BJS reviews and engagements. Developing processes to coordinate and maintain tracking for OMB Paperwork Reduction Act clearance package submission.
- developing processes and procedures to track compliance with statistical policy requirements related to data confidentiality, privacy, access, and security.
