BJS is seeking a Management Analyst (Statistical Policy Advisor) to be the primary point of contact and advisor to the director on policy matters related to the Foundations for Evidence-Based Policymaking Act of 2018. The BJS Director serves as the Department of Justice (DOJ) Statistical Official (SO) and is responsible for coordinating and directing DOJ-wide statistical policy, per the Evidence Act.
The Management Analyst's duties include—
- advising the SO on Evidence Act activities and recommending processes, policies, and procedures to support DOJ implementation of the Evidence Act.
- providing expert analysis on the impact on BJS and DOJ-wide operations and programs under areas that fall under the SO's responsibilities per Office of Management and Budget memorandum M-19-23, notably related to developing data quality standards, confidentiality protection standards, and statistical techniques.
- serving as the DOJ technical expert and primary contact for matters of statistical policy under the SO's purview.
- serving as an authoritative expert in analyzing Evidence Act matters and advising on standards, regulations, or policies that impact BJS and DOJ-wide programs, policies, and procedures.
- reviewing DOJ policies and making recommendations for necessary changes to comply with the Evidence Act.
