BJS is pleased to announce Grace Kena as the new chief of the Publications and Dissemination Unit. Ms. Kena is a skilled writer, statistician, and manager with nearly 20 years of experience working with social science data and research. Since joining BJS in 2016, Ms. Kena has overseen various aspects of work to produce statistics through the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS), including an array of substantive, technical, and communications activities for key NCVS research programs and related collections.
She has served as the project manager for the National Victimization Statistical Support Program and as a program champion with the Bureau of Justice Assistance's National Public Safety Partnership program. Before coming to BJS, she was the editor of the congressionally mandated Condition of Education at the National Center for Education Statistics, where she worked extensively on research topics across the education spectrum. Ms. Kena received a master’s degree in Public Policy from Duke University, and a bachelor's degree from the University of Chicago in the program of the History, Philosophy, and Social Studies of Science and Medicine.
